The Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (FEUC), through the MBA for Executives course, is promoting the competition MBA Challenge, a competition for business ideas and projects.
The competition covers two distinct categories, entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship, and "is intended for people with some professional experience, who have business ideas or new projects that would like to develop", explains the coordinator of the MBA for Executives from FEUC, Pedro Torres.
This "is a competition different from the others, without financial prizes," says Pedro Torres. The main benefit of the MBA Challenge is the opportunity to establish "a strong interaction with investors, incubators, companies and the academy", reveals the responsible.
The competition, in the form of individual application or as team, is open to "any idea they have and want to turn into a business," adds the coordinator of the MBA for Executives. In this regard, "the presence of incubators such as Biocant Park and the Pedro Nunes Institute, as well as investors such as Portugal Ventures, can be beneficial to take this step," adds Pedro Torres.
In the intra-entrepreneurship version, which meets the growing concern of companies in stimulating innovation, at least one of the team members must maintain a work contract with the organization where the project is to be carried out. "All the companies have, internally, collaborators who would like to develop projects, and this is an opportunity to give them visibility", reinforces Pedro Torres.
Together with Biocant Park and the partners already mentioned, companies such as Critical Software, Navigator, Mindshare (WPP Group) and Pathena are also partners of the MBA Challenge.
The competition also has the support from CCDRC and the organization is in charge of FEUC and DITS - Innovation and Knowledge Transfer Division of the University of Coimbra.
Applications are open until May 15.
