Biocant Park and SES Energia have signed a collaboration agreement to create a Renewable Energy Community, whose ambition is to serve the entire ecosystem of companies at Biocant Park.
This collaboration envisages the development of a 1MW photovoltaic power plant, increasing the park's energy autonomy by more than 50% and reducing dependence on the electricity grid. It will also have a strong environmental impact, avoiding the annual emission of more than 884 tons of CO2, which is equivalent to planting 40,160 trees every year.
Delfina Moreira, CEO of Biocant Park, emphasizes: “This project is an essential milestone in our sustainability strategy. The park is a major consumer of energy and we want to ensure that it is green, with the least possible impact on the environment. The partnership with SES Energia aims to provide the park with responsible and sustainable solutions in line with our environmental commitment.”
Bruno Fernandes, Development Director at SES Energia, highlights the value of this collaboration: “Biocant Park is one of the country's leading science and innovation parks, with a key role in supporting value-added companies, especially in biotechnology. For SES Energia, it is a great source of pride to collaborate with a partner so committed to reducing energy consumption and the environmental footprint.”
The project is in the licensing phase and is expected to be operational by the end of the first quarter of 2025.
SES Energia is a company dedicated to promoting sustainable development, driving the energy transition by creating renewable and decentralized energy communities for companies, organizations and families.
