Secondary school students, university students and the general public visited Biocant Park.
On 23 October, Biocant Park opened its doors for another edition of Open Day, attracting a target audience made up mainly of secondary school and university students. With a significant turnout of higher education students, the event was an excellent opportunity for young people to get a closer look at the activities carried out at Portugal's largest Biotechnology Park, promoting interaction between the student community and the park's innovative ecosystem.
The morning began with a welcome session, where around 160 participants were welcomed into the Biocant Park auditorium. During the session, there was a brief presentation about Biocant Park, highlighting its role as a reference centre in biotechnology and scientific innovation. The programme followed with various talks given by companies from the park, such as Immunethep, Exogenus Therapeutics and Crioestaminal, who shared their projects and activities under development. This sharing generated a lot of curiosity, and the public participated actively, asking questions and promoting enriching moments of interaction. In addition to the companies, several R&D groups, Functional Proteomics, GenoInseq, MitoXT and Advanced Cell Technology, presented their latest research projects.
During the afternoon, participants had the opportunity to visit various Biocant Park facilities, including research laboratories, interacting with scientists, researchers, technicians and master's and doctoral students who are developing their thesis projects at the park.
Biocant Park's Open Day plays a key role in promoting scientific literacy among young people and disseminating knowledge about innovative technologies and their potential impact on society. The collaboration of the entire park community was key to providing an enriching and inspiring experience for all participants. The aim of this event is to bring young people closer to the world of science and innovation, encouraging interest in scientific and technological careers.
